NASW Metro DC Chapter Supports Bill to Offer Free MSW from University of the District of Columbia

The chapter is pleased to support a bill that will be introduced by DC Councilmember-At-Large Robert White to let DC residents and employees earn a free MSW for free through the social work school at the University of the District of Columbia.

In addition to complete tuition coverage, the bill would include funding for housing and books.

White hopes The Pathways to Behavioral Health Degrees Act would become a model for national legislation and inspire more people to become mental and behavioral health professionals, alleviating the current severe shortage in the workforce.

This article summarizes White's goals for the bill.
