NASWDC Chapter 0 785

“Am I Doing This Right?”: Peer Support for Supervisors

November 15, 2023, 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Oftentimes after members take our popular Foundations of Supervision course and begin supervising LCSW candidates, new questions come up.

  1. Am I doing this right?

  2. How do I navigate differences in opinion when my supervisee and I practice different modalities?

  3. What if my supervisee and I disagree on an approach due to our cultural differences?

These types of questions are common, but also nuanced. Insight from one of our instructors and a group of your fellow supervisors can help. That’s why we developed our free, members-only “Peer Support for Supervisors” sessions.

In this 1.5 hour-session, the instructor will spend the first hour laying the foundation for one of the most common areas where supervisors struggle. Then, 30 minutes will be reserved for open questions and discussion.

On November 15, we will discuss “Am I being present enough for my supervisee?": Support aspects of supervision

  1. Am I emotionally available to my supervisee?

  2. Am I displaying appropriate boundaries while providing emotional support to my supervisee?

  3. How do I balance supporting my supervisee with my other critical tasks

Supervisors will earn 1 Category I Contact Hour, including 0.5 Ethics Hour.

The session is limited to 12 attendees. If you sign up and cannot attend, please let us know so that we can open the slot to another supervisor.
