Course Description

Providing culturally responsive services requires social workers to examine their own cultural identities, values, and experiences while continuously developing the knowledge and skills needed to effectively serve diverse populations. Cultural competence is an ongoing process of self-awareness, learning, and adaptation that enhances ethical and effective practice across communities.

In this interactive workshop, participants will explore how culture influences communication, decision-making, perceptions, and treatment planning. Through self-assessment, case studies, video examples, and breakout activities, attendees will gain practical tools for working more effectively across cultures and reducing barriers to engagement and care. The presenter will guide participants in examining their own cultural awareness and understanding how personal and professional identities shape interactions with clients, colleagues, and communities.
