About the Session:
After taking our popular Foundations of Supervision course and beginning to supervise LCSW candidates, many members encounter new and nuanced questions, such as:

• Am I doing this right?

• How do I navigate differences in opinion when my supervisee and I practice different modalities?

• What if my supervisee and I disagree on an approach due to our cultural differences?

These are common concerns. Insight from one of our instructors and fellow supervisors can help. That’s why we developed our free, members-only Peer Support for Supervisors sessions.

Each 1 to 1.5-hour session will focus on a general topic selected by the instructor, who will also gather questions submitted by registrants ahead of time to guide the discussion.

June 12 Topic:
Supervision for advanced post-licensure social workers.
Social workers with LCSWs have different needs than social work students or those working toward advanced licensure. Depending on their skill sets and areas of expertise, supervision for this group often assumes a consultation model. This advanced supervision role requires:

• Familiarity and comfort with theory and its application

• Strong relationship, assessment, and delivery skills

• The ability to supervise in a peer-to-peer model rather than a teacher-student dynamic

Delores Dungee-Anderson, Ph.D., LCSW, CTST
Professor, Ethelyn R. Strong School of Social Work, Norfolk State University

Dr. Dungee-Anderson is a tenured professor with expertise in forensic social work, clinical hypnosis, EMDR, and complex trauma disorders. She has provided supervision training at the state and national levels, authored clinical supervision standards for several NASW state chapters, and currently trains for NASW-VA. Recognized nationally, her clinical work focuses on trauma-based Borderline Personality Disorders and Dissociative Identity Disorders.
