Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Pathways to Successful Multicultural Supervision
When both days are taken together, this course fulfills the 14-hour training requirement mandated by the Virginia Board of Social Work to provide clinical supervision for LCSW candidates. Participants may register for ONE Day of the training to meet the 7-hour training requirement for supervision training renewal. The Virginia Board of Counseling requires 20 hours of approved training to supervise LPC candidates. *Participants who have previously taken a 14-hour course from NASW-VA (within the last calendar year) and wish to take an additional one-day course may qualify for a discounted one-day registration rate. During this highly interactive seminar, attendees will engage with other professionals to strengthen their foundation of today’s best practice knowledge and enhance their skills to function effectively in the critical role of clinical supervisor. Day 1 provides a multicultural supervision theoretical framework, while Day 2 explores personal levels of self-Awareness in supervision.
DAY 1: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Concepts and Practice in Supervision (7 CE Hours, Including 3 Ethics Hours)
Course Description: A one-day independent Multicultural Competence Workshop designed to provide a multicultural supervision theoretical framework. The emphasis on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, combined with essential cultural concepts and supervision practice strategies, is designed to guide and provide successful multicultural supervision practice.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will gain proficiency from the following:
- Introduction to Ethics Alive: An intentional focus on the introduction of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) concepts and related intervention strategies as applied in Multicultural Supervision Practice: Includes Cultural Competence, Cultural Awareness, Cultural Sensitivity, Cultural Humility, and Cultural Responsiveness.
- Concept Applications: Didactic and Experiential Group Learning Activities that support and strengthen the understanding of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and competence in supervision practice.
DAY 2: “Who Am I?” Do I Really Know What I Think I Know?” (7 CE Hours, Including 3 Ethics Hours)
Course Description: A one-day independent Multicultural Competence Workshop designed to provide the opportunity for practitioners to explore their personal levels of self-Awareness in supervision practice with supervisees.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will gain proficiency in the following:
- Enhance understanding and application of personal and interpersonal multicultural competence, concepts:
- Learn assessment strategies for identifying personal DEI blind spots and learn to apply DEI strategies in multicultural and all supervision practice;
- Understand individual interpersonal multicultural competence gained from the course content and the “WHO AM I” experiential exercises designed to highlight the range of self-reflection and identification processes that help assess positive multicultural supervision practices.
Attendees who attend both days will earn 14.0 Category I Contact Hours, including 6.0 Category I Contact Hours of Ethics.

Presenter: Delores Dungee-Anderson, Ph.D., LCSW, CTST, Professor
Delores Dungee-Anderson, Ph.D., LCSW CTST, Professor, is a tenured Professor in the Ethelyn R. Strong School of Social Work at Norfolk State University, Norfolk, Va. She is trained and credentialed in Forensic Social Work, Clinical Hypnosis, EMDR, and Complex Trauma Disorders (PTSD, Military PTSD, and Dissociative Disorders). She is a credentialed trainer for the State of Virginia and has been active in promoting and providing Social Work Licensure and Clinical Supervision training at national, regional, and local levels. She has authored and provided training on standards of clinical supervision for the NASW state chapters for Iowa, New Mexico, and Colorado. She also currently serves as a training instructor for NASW-VA.
Dr. Dungee-Anderson has practiced, trained, published and pursued continual training in the specialized field of Complex and Developmental Trauma Disorders since the mid-1990’s. She is both recognized and well-known at regional and national levels for her clinical work with trauma-based Borderline Personality Disorders and Dissociative Identity Disorders.

If a registrant cancels more than 10 days before the event, a refund will be issued by check or credit back to your credit card, minus a 10% administrative fee.
If cancelation occurs less than 10 days prior to the event, no refund will be issued but you may request a credit towards a future training to be used within 1 year of the cancelation date. Call the Chapter Office (804-204-1339) to cancel within 10 days of the training. A request for credit may be granted at the discretion of the Executive Director in case of a documented emergency.
