Beyond the "Blues": Best Practices for the Treatment of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders in the Age of Tech and Telehealth
Perinatal mental health disorders are the number one complication of childbirth and affect up to 1 in 5 birthing people in the U.S. The COVID-19 pandemic has added unique challenges during the perinatal period, and contributed to an increase in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs). The pandemic has also pushed clinicians to find ways to use technology and telehealth to serve clients and increase access to care. This 2-hour workshop will provide participants with an overview of perinatal mental health, and enhance participants skills in screening, diagnosing and identifying best practice treatments for their perinatal clients. Participants will also learn strategies on how to leverage telehealth and technology to enhance treatment & support of clients.
Participants will identify symptoms of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
Participants will learn how to administer evidence based screening to identify perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and strengthen their knowledge of evidenced based interventions, and culturally appropriate resources related to the treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
Participants will be able to identify ways to leverage telehealth and technology to enhance cients access to care and support.
Upon completion of this course attendees will earn 2 Category I Contact Hours.
