Thank you for your interest in being a presenter. We are now accepting session proposals for our 2027 NASW DMV Annual Conference.
Please complete this form to apply. You will need to submit your background, credentials, and contact information, as well as the title, course description, learning objectives, and logistics related to your proposed session, course, or workshop. Incomplete proposals will not be considered.
The deadline to be considered as a conference presenter is October 21, 2026.
About presenting at the Joint Annual Conference
The 2027 NASW DMV Annual Conference will be fully hybrid and be held in-person at the Kalahari Resort in Spotsylvania, Virginia on March 10-13, 2027.
All presenters must be available to present in-person in Spotsylvania during the March 2027 dates. Sessions will be 1.5 or 2 hours long. Sessions will be recorded to be included on the conference platform for registrants who choose a package that includes an “on demand” viewing option.
All submissions will be reviewed by the chapters, and all session decisions are final. You will be notified no later than November 20 if you have been selected as a conference presenter.
The chapters aim to compose a conference agenda that is diverse, meaningful, inclusive, engaging, and as timely as possible for social workers in all specialties.

The chapters are particularly interested in reviewing proposals on the following topics:
Trauma
Telehealth
Ethics
Race and social work
Diversity, equity, and inclusion
New techniques and approaches
Addiction
Grief and bereavement
Social work research
Technology
Private practice growth
Child and youth issues
Know your audience
As you draft your proposal, keep in mind that the typical conference audience is:

Composed of 400 professional social workers, as well as researchers, and students.
75%
Made up of a high percentage (75%) of social workers with 10 or more years of experience.
30%
Made up of many conference veterans (30% have attended 6 times or more).
All
Working in a wide variety of settings including community mental health, private practice, hospital settings, school settings, administration and supervision settings, and child welfare.
Session proposals can be geared toward social workers at any career stage, but we are especially interested in proposals for advanced-level learning.
Presenter compensation
If chosen as a conference presenter, travel, and associated costs will be considered a donation and not eligible for reimbursement.
In addition, presenters may be eligible to earn a maximum of 7 Category 2 CE hours for preparing and presenting a session (subject to licensure regulations). Presenters will also receive a discount on their conference registration.
